Job Opening: Part-Time Business Manager

The Business Manager will be responsible for managing and carrying out all business activities of the organization.

The Business Manager will run a smooth, efficient, and transparent operation so that other staff and volunteers can carry out the organization’s mission.

The Business Manager is an at-will employee who reports directly to the Executive Director


Specifically, the Business Manager will:

 

  1. Pay all bills and invoices approved by the Executive Director on time to maintain good relations with creditors and vendors. Send copies off all bills paid to the Bookkeeper.
  2. Work with the Bookkeeper to see that all records are accurate and adequately documented.
  3. Work with the staff, volunteers, and Executive Director to see that all deposits are made and documented.
  4. Work collaboratively with government agencies and other entities to whom we report to complete all reports and compliance documents due to government entities such as the DOT, SAM.gov, insurance companies, and other institutions that fund Handi-Wheels or to which Handi-Wheels has an obligation. (A list of required reports and documents is attached.)
  5. Collaborate with the Bookkeeper and Eide Bailly to complete the annual Form 990.
  6. Meet with the Executive Director on a regular basis to report and discuss issues and activities.
  7. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  1. Must be an organized, detail, and deadline-oriented person.
  2. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, Internet, email, and ability to adapt to new software, apps, and programs such as QuickBooks Online and government forms (mostly online)
  3. Sufficient knowledge of financial accounting to assist staff bookkeeper and accounting firm with the preparation of the annual form 990.
  4. Excellent phone skills and ability to communicate effectively with government staff, vendors and creditors, and other staff, volunteers, and board members.
  5. May require attendance at some board of directors meetings, usually 5:00 p.m. on a Tuesday.


Job Type & Details

  • Part-time position, expected hours: 10-15 per week.
  • Benefits: Flexible schedule, ability to work remotely, some in-office work, and meeting attendance may be required.
  • Education: High School or equivalent (Preferred).
  • Experience: Management Experience: 1 year (Preferred).
  • Leadership Experience: 1 year (Preferred).
  • Background check required.
