RIDE PARTNERS

RIDE PARTNERS

To accomplish our mission, we rely on partners to make our job more efficient and to allow our clients maximum flexibility in their individual transportation needs.

Handi-Wheels Transportation specializes in non-ambulatory transportation of clients in need of compassionate, convenient options for moving between home and their medical appointments. We do not specialize in social rides. These rides are best served by our two local partners, Valley Senior Services and MAT Paratransit. Read about these partners below.

MAT PARATRANSIT

MAT Paratransit provides transportation for those unable to travel on MATBUS fixed route buses without assistance. Those who are certified as Paratransit, eligible under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may use this service. The service is available for passengers age 7 and above.

To reserve a ride on MAT Paratransit, you need a "Special User Card." You can request a free application for this card from Metro Area Transit or download it as a PDF. You will be asked to provide the name of a medical or qualified social service professional who can verify your disability.

It will take us about three weeks to process your application. Your card will be mailed to you when your application is approved; it is valid for three years. The card will include any restrictions placed on your use of the service and a phone number you can call to reserve a ride.
